We welcome all levels of experience to our meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Stephanie and I do this by sharing our knowledge and experiences in a relaxed & safe environment, keeping it entertaining as well. We would love to have you join us!!!!
“Women must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself.” — Susan B. Anthony
Welcome, July!
The month of freedom, fireworks, and flag-waving pride is here! As we celebrate Independence Day and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and spirit that built this nation, may July remind us of what it means to be united, resilient, and free.
Here's to star-spangled skies, the sound of liberty ringing, and the red, white, and blue flying high. Let’s honor the past, celebrate the present, and keep working toward a brighter future for all.
Happy July, and God Bless America! 🎆🗽🇺🇸
June brought us another successful meeting with familiar faces and new faces! We are always thankful for our returning She-Shooters and grateful for new comers! June had us re-visit Concealed Carry for Ladies. There were great questions and feedback. We discussed clothing choices, carry options, carry placement, and attributes to assist you in making your decisions. Thank you to those who brought Pew Pouches for Show & Tell! Always remember, find what is comfortable for you and fits your purpose and lifestyle! Don’t forget, if you have a holster or a misfit rig that doesn’t work for you bring it to a meeting. Your dud may be someone’s diamond!
I am excited to present a new topic to She-Shooters for July’s meeting. Join us on Wednesday, July 16th at 6:00 pm for Emergency Preparedness: Bug Out or Bug In. Have you ever thought what you would do if you were in the midst of an emergency? You may hear people talk about a SHTF (shit hits the fan) scenario. There are also natural disasters, human-caused incidents, or a public health crisis. These are just the broad categories. At this meeting we will take a closer look at the different types, discuss the pro & cons for bugging in vs bugging out, and some of the important items you should have on hand to be prepared. Of course one of the most important items to have is a PLAN! Whether you are going to stay or go, whether you are alone or with your family…have a solid plan and a back-up plan. Come to the meeting prepared to share your thoughts! Do you already have this planned out? How prepared are you? In the words of Benjamin Franklin, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Make this meeting your first step to being prepared! We look forward to seeing you!!!
Remember to use your She-Shooter coupons (don’t have one, come to a meeting) and remember EVERY Wednesday, from open to close, is EMPOWERED WOMEN WEDNESDAYS at FreeState Gun Range! Ladies shoot for half price, $5.00 gets you unlimited firearm rentals, one free target, and no charge for eye/ear protection rental!! Work on those skills and save money…it doesn’t get much better than that!!!
Monthly Drills:
Tap/Rack Drill: You will need snap caps for this drill. Have someone else load your magazine with a mix of live rounds and snap caps. Load and make ready. Begin shooting maintaining all fundamentals. Surprise…you get a click and no bang. Tap, rack, get back on target, and continue shooting. Maintain trigger finger discipline when clearing your “malfunction”. Do as many times as you like at any distance.
Extend, Touch, Press Drill: You will need to place your target at 4-7 yards. Start at 4 if you’d like and then work up to 7 or farther. Load 5 rounds to start. Get in a good stance and get a proper grip. You will start at high compressed ready. Extend arms parallel to line of sight, both eyes open. Once on target, touch your trigger. Next, press trigger firing 1 round. Bring back to high compressed ready. Repeat for a total of 5 reps. The next set of reps you will fire 2 rounds at press (total of 10 rounds). For the final set of reps you will fire 3 rounds at press (total of 15 rounds). This drill will build your confidence, improve defensive accuracy, improve recoil control, and improve shooting speed. See video link for a demonstration https://youtu.be/yNQR65n9hVo?si=rgGU85NrllFiNzes
Weak Hand Pick Up: 2 rounds at different distances using any silhouette target placing all rounds center mass.
*** Place firearm on the bench in front of you with the muzzle pointed downrange. Place strong/dominant hand behind your back.
When ready, pick up firearm using weak hand only. Get sights on target and fire 2 shots. Repeat as much as you want.
