Dry Fire
Let's talk DRY FIRE!! I'm a HUGE FAN OF DRY FIRE PRACTICING. For my new shooters dry fire is practicing engaging that trigger WITH NO LIVE AMMO (every time I do this at home the ammo isn't even in the same room. this is a must for me, SAFTEY FIRST!!) Some reasons I love dry fire ----It's FREE!!
Let’s face it, ammo prices are still high. So getting to shoot often isn't for everyone. Dry fire practice is something you can do to practice between range sessions.
When I teach I always tell my students the goal is to engage that trigger in such a way that the firearm does not move. Dry fire helps you develop that muscle memory so when you do get to the range, you are more likely to shoot and not move anything but that trigger finger. It's NOT time consuming at all!! I aim (lol pun intended) for 10-15 min every day, usually when I'm on the couch watching TV. I will pick a picture on my wall (I always double check the gun is empty just to be extra safe), I get my good grip (high hand thumbs forward) and then engage that trigger, the rack, the slide and do it again. No need to rush. I do that a few times, put the gun down, give it a min then pick it up again:.... before you know it, you've spent around 10-15 min doing it and your good to go!!
I can honestly say dry firing has helped me get that better trigger engagement and helps me keep that gun on target... ( I say "engage" the trigger instead of pull the trigger because to me, the word pull can mean force.. and you don't want to force anything in firearms.. so I use the term "engage").
Tell me what you all think? Fab of dry firing?? Did it help you???
Hope you all are having a great night, stay safe and Happy Shooting all
