Low and Left
Hello All,
It is not fun to shoot low and left, but I was really good at it My Canik and I decided that we needed to do something about this. Since I am already at the gun range, it a short walk to fire my pistol. I had done some reading as to what my issue could be. There are 3 basic reasons:
1. Shooting too fast – This can make your natural point of AIM incorrect
2. Pushing the Trigger with your Trigger finger - If you push the Trigger on the side, you will be pushing your pistol, not only the Trigger.
3. Milking the gun – If your grip, arm, and elbow are not lined up correctly, your will shoot low and to the left (low and to the right if you are left handed)
#1 -- I am not a fast shot! I also correct my stance each time that I shoot. #2 – I practice Dry Firing. I kept the knuckle on my Trigger Finger straight, so this was not the issue. With the first two options off the table, it must be #3… Milking the Gun.
I made sure that my feet were planted correctly and that my Natural Point of Aim was on spot. I held my pistol and fired. I was low and left! I took a deep breath, paying close attention to the alignment between the pistol, my hands, arm and elbow. First, I turned my wrist so my arm was in line with the gun, and my elbow was in line with my arm. I took my breath, and slowly pull the trigger. I got four shots on target!!
I will talk to you again after my next adventure on the range.
